JOHANNA BIALKIN: OWNER + CEO
In 2005, Johanna Bialkin moved to San Francisco looking for community and a new career direction. She soon founded Aldea Home & Baby, a sanctuary amidst the city’s clamor where stylish home essentials met the warmth of human connection. Inspired by the cozy elegance of “The Apartment” in NYC, she envisioned a space where shopping felt like strolling through a cherished village, and where every purchase added a touch of life to one’s living space.
Over its past 20 years, Aldea has become a hub of connection, a place of lively parties and intimate gatherings. Through recessions, pandemics, and personal tragedies, it has stood as a beacon of resilience, offering comfort and inspiration to people who wanted to brighten their homes. From winter gifting to summer wedding registries and year-round baby essentials, the store and each room within it is designed to adapt to the changing needs of its community.
Johanna opened Aldea’s first franchise location in Los Angeles in 2018 and is now looking to establish Aldea franchises across the U.S.
